KEOUGH Staff Writer, (609) 463-6710 Dateline: CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE A former Garden State Parkway toll collector received probation Thursday for his role in an off-duty road-rage incident. Jason Glassey, 25, was sentenced in Superior Court on a charge of interfering with a vehicle in transit, a disorderly persons offense. Glassey, who had earlier pleaded guilty to the offense, was sentenced Thursday to two years' probation, according to Cape May County Assistant Prosecutor Michelle DeWeese. In return for his plea, prosecutors dropped a third-degree charge of possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. Glassey's attorney, Jerry Steiner, said the plea agreement was an appropriate resolution to a one-time outburst that his client now regrets. "He's a nice young man," Steiner said. "He was under a lot of personal pressure at the time. He's accepted responsibility." Glassey was driving home from his job as a toll collector in Cape May County on Nov. 21 when another driver cut him off on the parkway. Glassey allegedly pulled out a paintball gun and fired repeatedly at the van, hitting it with blue paint pellets. The driver of the van reported the incident to a State Police trooper on patrol; Glassey's vehicle was stopped a few minutes later. The incident led the state highway authority to fire Glassey from his $44,452 per year job. To e-mail W.F.
